Google Chrome OS Notebook: Specs Revealed?

The rumors are spreading and fast. Many are talking – and wondering – about the rumored Google Chrome OS notebook that is supposed to hit the market in late June or early July. Since the first leaks, techies all over have been trying to figure out what it will be and just how close it would come to Google’s test netbook CR48.

Engadget reportedly found the latest leak on a bug report at Google Groups. According Engadget’s reports, the new Chrome OS notebook is the Samsung Alex. This notebook is supposedly a 10-inch netbook that uses a 1.5 GHz dual core Atom N550 processor and has 2 GB of RAM.

Other rumors have been flying that Google will not sell the device outright but will offer it as a subscription based device. According to Computerworld, the Chorme OS netbook would be offered for between $10 and $15 a month. Google would supply hardware updates as they become available and make any repairs free of charge. According to Neowin, Google will also offer the device for a one time payment. The kicker is that no one knows if the this subscription will be available for standard g-mail users or if it is only for Google Apps Premier customers.
