Google has adjusted the shipping date for preorders of the Google Nexus 7 to “1 – 2 weeks” at the Google Play store. This down from the “2 – 3 weeks” that was listed yesterday.
Meanwhile, Staples continues to list July 13th as an early ship date for Google Nexus 7 preorders through their site. According to their Nexus 7 product page, on preorders placed by today, the shipping date is from July 13 to July 17.
Either way, it looks like the new 7 inch tablet, which has been garnering some outstanding reviews, will ship sometime soon.
We spoke with a customer service rep at Staples earlier today. She confirmed that preorders for the Nexus 7 can only be placed online. They do not take preorders for the tablet at local Staples stores. We have also been able to confirm that the Nexus 7 from Staples comes with a $25 credit to the Google Play store (some of our readers questioned this claim when we first stated it a few days ago). The Nexus 7 from Staples also includes a free copy of Transformers: Dark of the Moon.
Staples is just offering just the 16GB version so far, for $249.
Gamestop is also taking preorders for the Nexus 7. Like Staples, they only have the 16GB version available right now, and it’s listed at the same price, $249. Gamestop does not list a ship by date.
The Christian Post is reporting that the 16GB Nexus 7 is also available for preordering at Best Buy at $259, but we have not been able to confirm that, and can not find the tablet on Best Buy’s website.
The Google Play store is the only outlet we have found that offers the 8GB version of the Nexus 7. The cost is $199. They also have the 16GB version available for preordering at $249.
