Google was the most visited website in 2011, according to Nielsen, the trend tracking company that also rates the audience size of TV shows and other items.

According to their statistics, Google received an average of 153.4 million unique US visitors per month during 2011. Facebook came in a close second, with 137.6 million unique visitors per month, and Yahoo came in third place with 130.1 million unique visitors per month

Nielsen also announced the top social networks and blogs. Facebook was on top of the list (137.6 million), followed by Blogger, a blogging service from Google, with 45.7 million visitors, and Twitter with 23.6 million. Google+, which many of us have been watching to see how it grows, came in eighth place with 8.2 million visitors.

In a list of the top online destinations for video during 2011, YouTube, is owned by Google, came in at the top with 111.2 million visitors, VEVO came in a distant second with 34.6 million, Facebook was third with 29.8 million visitors.

Nielsen gathered the statistics from January through October of 2011, counting both home and work computers.
