GoPro HD HERO3 Black Edition is now available for pre-order on the company’s website with an estimated ship date of November 14, 2012.
The latest in GoPro’s line of wearable and gear-mountable cameras is 25% lighter and 30% smaller than previous models, with increased photo and video performance.
Priced at $399.99, the package includes an assortment of mounts and hardware for attaching to helmets and other outdoor gear. The camera uses a lithium-ion battery that can be recharged using a USB cable, both included. A waterproof camera housing, down to depths of 197 feet, also comes with the package.
This newest model captures video in a wide range of resolutions, from 720p to 4K Cin, at a variety of speeds, between 12 and 240 fps. Wi-Fi is built in to the camera and it’s also Wi-Fi Remote compatible with the included accessory. New features of the GoPro HERO3 Black Edition include continuous photo, looping video and protune mode which allows for simultaneous video recording and photo shots.
The GoPro HERO3 Black Edition is backwards compatible with GoPro mounting accessories and older generation BacPacs, but not with HERO2 housings due to its smaller shape and size.
