The Grammy Awards are right around the corner, and this year a couple of new artists have racked up several nominations in important categories.
Lorde, a sixteen-year-old New Zealander with a soothing voice, has been nominated for Song of the Year for her tune “Royals.”
Lorde is nominated in three other categories including Record Of The Year, Best Pop Solo Performance, and Best Pop Vocal Album.
If she manages to take home one of these awards, she would become the third-youngest person to ever win a Grammy, behind LeAnn Rimes and Luis Miguel.
Seattle-based artists Macklemore & Ryan Lewis are competing against Lorde for Song of the Year with their LGBTQ anthem “Same Love,” which features Mary Lambert.
As a group and individually the two are also up for Album of the Year for their album The Heist, Best New Artist, Best Rap Performance, Best Rap Album, Best Music Video, and Best Rap Song.
You can catch the 56th Grammy Awards on CBS on Jan. 26, 2014 from 8–11:30 p.m. (ET/PT).
