GrouponGate: Users Crying Foul Over FTD Valentine’s Flowers

Groupon users cried foul after Groupon offered members a deal: a coupon good for $20 off FTD flowers.

After purchasing the coupon, users were sent to a special section of FTD.com to purchase Valentine’s Day flowers with the coupon. The problem? According to users, prices on this section of FTD.com were higher than what FTD offered through the front of their website.

According to user posts at Groupon.com, the price through the special coupon section was $10 to $20 more than were listed to flower buyers just going to the front of FTD.com. On top of that, service fees and shipping charges were also higher.

One Groupon user gave an example in her post on Groupon: “…the FTD Precious Heart Bouquet starts off as $39.99 on the regular site and $49.99 if accessed through the Groupon link.”

Groupon.com responded by closing the deal. In an email to users, Groupon said “To make this right, we’ve worked together with FTD to make sure that discounts available on FTD.com will now also be available to use with your Groupon. For those of you who already purchased items that were on sale on FTD.com, FTD will automatically issue you a refund on the credit card you used with the difference as additional savings.”
