There has been a series of exciting news surrounding Halo 4 in the past week. Let’s break it down piece by piece.
The biggest news to come out recently is the ability to play as “The Flood”. The Flood will be added to the existing “Infection” gametype and the gameplay will have a single infected enemy taking on a group of players.
The enemy will infect the players and they in turn will be transformed and will eventually defeat the humans. Flood will be a very lethal character with the ability to move the fastest and farthest of all players.
The next exciting news for Halo fans will be the return of the Valhalla map from Halo 3, which is remastered and reintroduced as “Ragnarok”. The map is symmetric in nature with two bases on either side surrounded by hills and a river running through it. There is also a Pelican with two caves on either side.
The biggest introduction for Halo 4 was the new trailer released by 343 industries showing off the Mantis Mech as a vehicle in multiplayer. The Mantis will be a very powerful vehicle in multiplayer, and will be a completely new vehicle, not a replacement. The tank is also retained in multiplayer, thus providing for a Tank v/s Mantis scenario.
The Mantis looks like it has a machine gun and missile attack. From the footage it also seems to have a melee attack based on stomping. There will be some restrictive mechanism like slower reloads and overheating in Mantis, but from the looks of it, the Mantis is all set to be a very dominant force in Halo 4 multiplayer.
Halo 4 is set for November 6, 2012 release.
Here is the new trailer revealing Mantis and Ragnarok.
