Harry Potter And The Deathly Hallows: Part 2 reviews are coming in hot and heavy. According to a lot of reviews, most critics seem to think that the final installation of the “Harry Potter” series ends with a bang – not just a ton of tears.
“Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 1” marked the beginning of the end with a constant feeling of doom and misery. “Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 2” finishes everything up with the feeling of melancholy (yet again) and satisfaction.
The film’s first review came July 6, from London’s Daily Telegraph and critic Philip Womack, who wrote: “This is monumental cinema, awash with gorgeous tones, and carrying an ultimate message that will resonate with every viewer, young or old: there is darkness in all of us, but we can overcome it.”
According to a review from My West Texas:
“Oh, it’s dramatic, to be sure: gorgeous, somber and startling as the young wizard faces his destiny and fights the evil Lord Voldemort. But the end of this staggeringly successful movie franchise, an epic fantasy saga spanning eight films over the past decade, provides a necessary emotional catharsis for Harry and for us. Even those who aren’t ardent Potterphiles — who aren’t waiting in a line around the theater with their homemade wands and hand-drawn lightning scars — might find themselves getting unexpectedly choked up a couple of times.”
Ann Hornaday, movie critic, gives “Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 2” three stars, noting:
“There’s no denying the primal power of watching a contemporary — in this case, a bookish-looking wizard with the face of a schoolboy and the magical powers of a superhero — come to terms with death, apocalyptic destruction and the burdensome responsibilities of his own swiftly encroaching maturity.”
Robert Ebert, venerable critic from the Chicago Sun-Times states:
“The finale conjures up enough awe and solemnity to serve as an appropriate finale and a dramatic contrast to the lighthearted (relative) innocence of “Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone” all those magical years ago.” But, he cautions, see the movie in 2-D because the 3-D version, says he, adds nothing.”
RottenTomatoes.com, the popular website for movie ratings and reviews leaves “Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 2” with a steady 97 percent “Fresh” ranking (which is a very good thing to those unfamiliar with Rotten Tomatoes).
Based on the reviews coming in, “Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 2” seems to be quite magical and worthwhile!
