The Alpha servers for Heroes of the Storm have been brought down and are expected to be brought back up in a week or so.
Spyrian, the community manager for Blizzard’s upcoming MOBA, has posted in the HotS forums announcing not just the shutdown of the servers but a complete wipe for all accounts.
This means that all gold and experience will be cleared, although any in-game purchases made with real money will be refunded for use once the servers come back up.
Matchmaking will also be reset, meaning that the first few matches a player joins into will be filled out with players of mixed skill levels.
The News section of Blizzard’s Battle.net Desktop App has also made an announcement regarding a few new features that will be included in the next stage of testing, including:
• Re-enabling of custom games
• Match replays
• Two new heroes: Anub’arak, the Traitor King and Azmodan, the Lord of Sin
• The reveal of the Wonder Billie mount
• Transition into production hardware (aka a larger pool of testers)
Those interested to sign up for the testing phase of Heroes of the Storm can do so by following the instructions on this Beta Opt-In page by Blizzard.
Excited by the new features? Bummed by the servers going down? Even more bummed because you haven’t received a testing invite yet?
