With every Christmas season comes anticipation over what will be the year’s hottest toys and video games, so we consulted an expert for 2015’s hot toy predictions.
We reached out to Eric Jones, co-owner of BestBlackFriday.com to help those shopping for kids and unsure of what to get.
Every year, his site crunches the numbers and analyzes the stats to help shoppers find the best Black Friday and other holiday deals.
This year he aggregated data from best sellers on Amazon.com along with “hot toy lists” from other popular retailers such as Toys “R” Us, Walmart and Target.
Jones offers the following predictions for Christmas 2015’s hot toys:
“Barbie Dreamhouse will be popular in the 3 to 4 year old range.”
“I like Star Wars items to be popular in every age group but particularly the 5-7 age group with the Star Wars Bladebuilders Jedi Master Lightsaber.”
“LEGOs as always will be popular in the 8-12 age range, especially since there are over 25 new sets this holiday season. I like the Minecraft Creative Adventures Crafting Box to be very popular this year.”
“Guitar Hero Live will be huge within the teen age group.”
“Adults will once again gravitate to the Cards Against Humanity especially with expansion packs becoming popular.”
“Other hot gift predictions certainly have to start with the Xbox One and Playstation 4 which have been two of our most heavily trafficked pages on the site.”
And to add our own, Call of Duty: Black Ops III is anticipated to be a top requested video game on gamers’ wish lists this season.
Shopkins are expected to be another 2015 Christmas “it” toy for kids who want to start or add to their collection. They’re popular with a variety of age ranges from preschoolers on up to some of the picky pre-teen crowd.
As for where to find the best deals on holiday toys, shoppers should be on the lookout at stores other than Walmart, Toys “R” Us and the like. BestBlackFriday.com predicts retailers such as Kohl’s and CVS will offer some of the biggest savings on toys. Kroger often has toys discounted in its clearance section as well.
