For all those beloved How I Met Your Mother fans, there is some great news to share.
Yes, that’s right guys and gals! After what appeared to be substantially extensive negotiations, CBS and 20th Century Fox Television have officially renewed How I Met Your Mother for its ninth and final season.
The even greater news lies in the confirmation that all the series regulars Josh Radnor, Jason Segel, Neil Patrick Harris, Cobie Smulders, and Alyson Hannigan, including series creators Carter Bays and Craig Thomas are set to return.
Rumors swirled Segel was reluctant to return for another season, but had a change of heart as he finally agreed to sign for one more year.
The president of CBS Entertainment, Nina Tassler, released the following statement: “Through eight years, ‘How I Met Your Mother’ has mastered the art of leading-edge comedy, emotional water-cooler moments and pop. We are excited for Carter, Craig, Pam Fryman and this amazing cast to tell the final chapter and reveal television’s most mysterious mother to some of TV’s most passionate fans.”
How I Met Your Mother has thrived while airing in a highly grueling time slot for CBS’ Monday comedy series. The show has even hit series high ratings last year. It is currently averaging 7.8 million viewers and a 4.0 rating among adults 18-49.
The anticipation builds as we reach closer and closer to the reveal of the beloved unknown mother. The reveal as Barney Stinson would say is bound to me “Legen…. wait for it….. Dary!”
