HTC Desire’s Gingerbread Update: Yes It Is… Not It’s Not… Yes It Is…

Released almost a year ago, the HTC Desire is still a very popular Android phone in the market.  HTC has brought this phone into the spotlight again, announcing the Gingerbread update for HTC Desire. But the consumers are already confused – after initially saying there would be a Gingerbread update,  HTC recently backtracked, saying there would not be a Gingerbread update for the Desire.

Just yesterday HTC announced on their Facebook page that “Our engineering teams have been working hard for the past few months to find a way to bring Gingerbread to the HTC Desire without compromising the HTC Sense experience you’ve come to expect from our phones. However, we’re sorry to announce that we’ve been forced to accept there isn’t enough memory to allow us both to bring Gingerbread and keep the HTC Sense experience on the HTC Desire. We’re sincerely sorry for the disappointment that this news may bring to some of you.”

This news really disappointed the users and the web communities cried out. Apparently that was enough to push HTC to the edge and they turned around again. Their Facebook page changed, saying they are going to bring Gingerbread to HTC Desire contrary to what they had said earlier. It is really weird that the problem which could not be solved after “working hard for the past few months” was solved in only one day due to the public reaction. Publicity trick or poor decision making? Whichever, the end result is good for the HTC Desire users. Sooner or later they are going to get Gingerbread update for HTC Desire.
