HTC EVO 4G LTE: Pre-Orders To Arrive Thursday

HTC-EVO-4G-LTEThe HTC EVO 4G LTE, which missed its expected launch date because US Customs put it on ice, has now been released. Yesterday, Sprint said the smartphones should be in the hands of shoppers who pre-ordered the phone within days.

The HTC EVO 4G LTE was set to launch on the Sprint network last Friday. But the launch was put on hold indefinitely when the phones were stopped by US Customs officials for inspection. The basis for the inspection was a ruling by the International Trade Commission last year which found that HTC had violated Apple owned patents during the manufacturing of the EVO 4G LTE. Phones with the patented technology were not allowed to be imported.

HTC said they had worked around the issue with a change in the design, and that the smartphone was in compliance with the ruling. Apparently US Customs officials agreed. The smartphones were released and are now making their way to shoppers.

Sprint made the announcement through their blog, saying:

“Customers who pre-ordered HTC EVO 4G LTE…Your wait is almost over! Sprint expects to begin shipping HTC EVO 4G LTE for arrival on or around Thursday, May 24 to customers who pre-ordered the device online from Sprint. We will provide details on the full national launch as soon as possible.”

Sprint also said that those who pre-ordered the phone can view the status of their order at: sprint.com/myorder.
