Few weeks ago, the blogosphere reported that Huawei’s Ascend W1 smartphone was coming to Europe, with Russia being on the list.
We are now hearing that the phone is available for pre-orders in Russia.
The news comes from WMPoweruser. The Windows 8 powered handset has been listed at a price of 8,990 Rubles. The local retailer Svyaznoy is the first to put up the phone for pre-orders.
In terms of euros and dollars, the cost is approximately €225, or $299.
The source also notes that the handset is going to retail at a lower cost than the Nokia Lumia 620, another Windows-8 phone which sells for about €250 ($335).
The Huawei Ascend W1 was introduced last month at CES 2013.
The handset comes with a 1.2 GHz dual-core processor, 4-inch display screen (800 x 480 pixels), 5 mega-pixel back camera, front camera, 2000 mAh battery, microSD slot for memory extension and a 4 GB internal SD card.
