The Hunger Games: Catching Fire Available on Netflix This Month

The long wait is over for all fans of Jennifer Lawrence and her fictional alter ego, Katniss Everdeen, because Netflix will start streaming Hunger Games: Catching Fire on October 22.

The science fiction action/adventure flick was the fifth highest grossing movie last year, earning about $860 million worldwide. Movie reviews were great too. Critics are one in saying Catching Fire is a smart and compelling movie, resulting in an 89 percent overall rating from Rotten Tomatoes and 7.8 out of 10 score from IMDB.

Netflix subscription starts at $7.99 per month and can be viewed on compatible smartphones, game consoles and HDTVs. There is a free one-month trial for first time users.

There are alternatives for non-Netflix subscribers. Catching Fire will also be available for streaming on Amazon Instant Video on October 22.

However, Amazon Prime membership is required and it costs $99 per year and there is no monthly option. Prime membership offers more perks including free two-day shopping on Amazon, access to Prime music streaming and Kindle’s lending library.

Then there is the option to rent it online. Currently, it is only available at Flixter and it costs $3.99 to rent the SD version. It will be available on iTunes for the same price on October 22 as well.

The timing could never be more perfect. The third installment of this successful movie franchise, Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part 1, is expected to hit theaters on November 21, 2014. Some movie experts believe this is the most anticipated movie of the year. Part 2 is scheduled next year, November 2015.
