“I And Love And You” – a pet food company based out of Boulder, CO – has expanded its recall from July 2015 of beef dog chews that may be contaminated with Salmonella.
The recalled product is the 2-ounce bags of Cow Boom! Strips Beef Gullet chews (UPC 818336011344) with lot numbers ending in 4T1 or 5T1 and a best-by year of 2016 or 2017.
The Food and Drug Administration is advising pet owners who have purchased contaminated bags to dispose of them immediately, or return them to the store of purchase for a full refund.
Consumers with questions for “I And Love And You” may contact the company via phone at 855-ILY-LOVE (855-459-5683) Monday-Friday between 8:00am and 5:00pm MT, or via email at service@ilypet.com.
To date, there have been no confirmed cases of illness or death in humans or pets in relation to this recall.
Pets with Salmonella may experience some or all of the following symptoms: diarrhea (possibly bloody), decreased appetite, fever, lethargy, and vomiting.
Pets may be infected with Salmonella, yet not show any signs of illness. Regardless if your pet shows symptoms, he is still a carrier of the illness and can pass it on to other animals and humans. Contact your veterinarian right away if you dog has consumed contaminated Cow Boom! Strips Beef Gullet chews.
