In Mother’s Day Gift Sale, Amazon Cuts Kindle Fire HD Price By $20

Amazon is having a sale on their Kindle Fire HD tablets from now through Mother’s Day, May 12th.

The 7 inch, 16GB, Kindle Fire HD that normally sales for $199, is $179 during the sale.

It’s not that Amazon never has sales on the Kindle Fire, but it is rare enough to take note of.

On their home page, Amazon asks shoppers to enter the promo code “Fire4Mom” at checkout. The code is also mentioned in a small bar above the fold on their Kindle Fire HD page.

According to the fine print, the deal is only available to US shoppers, and there is a limit of one per customer.

The deal also does not apply to shoppers using Amazon’s “1-click” purchasing option. Shoppers will have to go through the normal check out process so they can include the promo code.

The Kindle Fire HD is available at Best Buy and Staples stores for $179 as well… ok, let’s be exact here – it’s $179.99 at Best Buy, $179 even at Amazon and Staples.

Walmart and Target carried Kindle Fires until last year. Both have since discontinued selling the tablets.

The $179 deal is for a Kindle Fire HD with “special offers.” However, the $20 discount also applies to Kindle Fire HDs without “special offers” and with different size hard drives. It does not apply to the 8.9 inch version.

During the check out process, Amazon also offers $20 off Amazon Prime membership – which provides Amazon shoppers with free 2-day shipping on many of their products and access to select streaming content.

Will you be buying Mom a Kindle for Mother’s Day? Will you opt in for Amazon Prime membership as well?
