The final trailer for Star Wars: The Force Awakens has made its debut and is all but tucked away at this point. Right? Wrong!
Much overlooked across media-land (where the Force is sometimes a little diminished) was the latest trailer released in Japan, which contains more footage and reveals more than the trailer released in the United States.
It may have caught the U.S. media flat footed, but all things Star Wars is never out of fashion, whether we’re playing catch up or not.
This final trailer shows the key role the BB-8 droid will have in the story and even reveals the machine’s voice, which is a little bit like a synthesizer hooked up to a wah-wah pedal.
The footage also shows the Darth Vader-like villain Kylo Ren threatening Rey with his lightsaber flashed up to her cheek.
Earlier trailers revealed that Ren made his own lightsaber, which has serrated edges, like a double-bladed sword.
The seventh Star Wars epic from Lucasfilms is due for release on December 14 in Los Angleles and December 18 for the rest of the country.
It stars Mark Hamill as Luke Skywalker, Harrison Ford as Hans Solo, Carrie Fischer as Princess Leia, Adam Driver as Kylo Ren, Daisy Ridley as Rey, John Boyega as Finn, Oscar Isaac as Poe Dameron, Anthony Daniels as 3-CPO and Peter Mayhew as Chewbacca.
