Last week, Apple announced two new iPhones: the iPhone 6 and the iPhone 6 Plus. Each is clearly an upgrade from the iPhone 5S and iPhone 5C, but just how do these two new iPhones differ from each other?
Price and Storage Capacity
The iPhone 6 is available in 16GB, 64GB and 128GB versions, priced at $199, $299 and $399, respectively. The iPhone 6 Plus is also available in 16GB, 64GB and 128 GB models, priced at $299, $399 and $499, respectively. These prices reflect those of new iPhones purchased with a new 2-year contract.
This is the first time Apple has offered the iPhone with a 128GB capacity. It is also worth noting that there is no longer a 34GB model, which means the jump from 16GB to 64GB is a difference of only $100.
Display
The most obvious difference between Apple’s iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus is the screen size. The iPhone 6 has a 4.7-inch screen (0.7 inches larger than the previous-generation iPhone 5S and iPhone 5C), while the iPhone 6 Plus has an impressive 5.5-inch screen.
Both iPhone models feature the new Retina HD display. However, the iPhone 6 Plus display has a 1920-by-1080 resolution to make up for its larger size, whereas the iPhone 6 has a screen resolution of 1334-by-750.
Both the iPhone 6 and the iPhone 6 Plus will have very stunning displays. The primary difference is simply the difference in size. Today, most smartphone screens run at about 4.7 inches.
Size and Weight
The iPhone 6 is 2.64 inches wide by 5.44 inches tall. The iPhone 6 Plus is 3.06 inches wide by 6.22 inches tall. Both iPhones are approximately 0.27 inches thin.
Both iPhones are also extremely lightweight, with the iPhone 6 weighing 4.55 ounces and the iPhone 6 Plus weighing 6.07 ounces.
Processor and Battery
Both the iPhone 6 and the iPhone 6 Plus feature the new 64-bit A8 chip and M8 motion coprocessor. Both are faster and more energy efficient than the iPhone 5S and iPhone 5C.
As a result of the new A8 processor, the iPhone 6 has 3G talk time of up to 14 hours and 3G internet time of up to 10 hours. Additionally, video playback time runs at around 11 hours, and audio playback time at around 50 hours.
The iPhone 6 Plus is even more exceptional in terms of battery life. It can last up to 24 hours on 3G phone calls, and up to 12 hours with 3G internet browsing. Video playback is up to 14 hours, and audio playback up to 80 hours.

Apple’s iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus are significant upgrades from the iPhone 5C in terms of performance, battery life and display. Screen size is a personal preference, but Apple still offers the 4-inch iPhone 5S and iPhone 5C through the Apple online store and all official Apple retail stores.
