The wait is finally over for Grey’s Anatomy fans: Isaiah Washington is back tonight after 7 long years as Dr.Burke.
As first reported by Consumer Press back in March, Washington is coming back as part of Sandra Oh’s (Christina Yang) departure from the series.
Burke and Christina were soul mates – until Burke left her at the altar on her wedding day. He hasn’t been seen since – until now!!!
As an added bonus for fans, prior to his return during the new episode at 9 P.M.(EST) ABC will re-air his original departure at 8 P.M. (EST).
Washington was fired from the show after season 3 for making anti-gay remarks about fellow co-star T.R. Knight (George) during an argument on set.
It will be exciting to finally see Washington and Oh share screen time again: they are pure magic together. It’s too bad they are reuniting now, when Oh is leaving.
Sandra Oh has played the icy, but lovable, Dr. Christina Yang, since Grey’s Anatomy debut 10 seasons ago. Her sistership with Meredith (EllenPompeo), has been one of the driving forces of the show.
Her departure will leave a tremendous void; although the show has an extremely talented cast and strong story lines, a part of its heart will be missing.
Oh’s final scenes will air next Thursday, May 15, at 9 P.M. (EST) on ABC.
Don’t forget to catch tonight’s 8 P.M. (EST) re-broadcast of Washington’s last appearance, followed by the all new episode marking Burke’s return at 9P.M. (EST) on ABC.
