Ja Rule will be joining the list of rappers that face jail time for possession of a gun after pleading guilty Monday to attempted possession of a weapon.
The rapper whose real name is Jeffrey Atkins is likely to spend two years in jail followed by an 18 month supervised release due to the charges.
He will be sentenced on February 9. It is likely the rapper would have faced a tougher sentence had he opted to go with a trial and been convicted of the charges.
The charge stems from being caught with a .40 caliber handgun in his car in 2007.
