Jacques Villeneuve To Join Penske Racing For 2 NASCAR Races

Jacques Villeneuve is one of only a few drivers who have ever won the auto racing’s triple crown – the Indianapolis 500, the Formula One title, and the IndyCar championship. In doing so, he joined Mario Andretti and Emerson Fittipaldi, both of whom were Penske drivers. Now, Villeneuve will join the Penske Racing team as well.

Penske Racing has signed Jacques Villeneuve to fill in for reigning champion Brad Keselowski in two upcoming NASCAR road courses. The champion driver will attempt to bring the #22 Discount Tire/Ruby Tuesday Dodge Challenger across the finish line in first place on June 25 at the NASCAR Road America race. He ill get another chance on August 20 at Montreal.

Villeneuve said that he is excited to be working with the Discount Tire/Ruby Tuesday team for these races and that he is “I am really looking forward to joining Penske Racing and getting the chance to race at two of my favorite tracks with the series championship team.” The president of Penske Racing, Tim Cindric stated that Villeneuve would be “a good fit” for the team.

In the last 4 seasons, Jacques Villeneuve has made 8 NASCAR starts. His best NASCAR finish was at Montreal last season when he finished in third place. Penske Racing has also enjoyed some good starts in NASCAR, including 6 wins and the series championship last year with driver Brad Keselowski. Both the Penske and Villeneuve are looking forward to some great racing during the next 2 races.
