With the frenzy of holiday shopping over, many buyers may assume there’s a lull in sales at the beginning of the year.
The opposite tends to be true as the month of January can be a great time to find items discounted for clearance. This especially holds true for furniture and items for the home.
January White sales and other discounts related to home décor and kitchen and dining categories include:
Kohl’s: New Year’s Stock Up Sale featuring 40-50% off furniture and art, 50-60% off window treatments, 30-60% off comforter collections, and 10-33% off small appliances. Ends January 6.
JC Penney: Throws and blankets for 40% off, comforters 10-30% off, furniture, sheets, and window treatments up to 50% off.
Anthropologie: Comforters for up to 60% off, rugs, pendants, dinner plates and bath items up to 50% off. Additional 30% off sale items for a limited time (sale end date was not specified) using a code that appears on the Sale section of their site.
West Elm: 20% off bedding and bath, 25% off select curtains in addition to markdowns on furniture, holiday décor, rugs, dining sets, and art.
Macy’s: Up to 60% off on closeout items across the site including everything from candleholders to cookware sets. Receive an extra 10% off home items using a cut and paste code featured on their home page or an extra 15% off items in other categories. Includes clearance items.
HomeDecorators.com: All home décor and select accent furniture is 10% off with free shipping until January 7, 2013.
LampsPlus.com: Savings of 10-50% on hundreds of styles during their January sale and clearance event.
Art.com: Winter clearance event with savings up to 75% off with an additional 15% off all orders until January 5, 2013 with a code on their site.
Shoppers can also expect to find deals on home organization and storage items as home owners vow to get organized and banish clutter in 2013. Target has ClosetMaid stackable storage sets on sale this week and Room Essentials bookshelves starting at $17. Sterilite and Hefty storage containers are also on sale as are laundry baskets and wastebaskets.
In addition, Target’s Biggest White Sale, already taking place online, will begin in stores on January 6 and end January 12, 2013. Sheets, comforters, pillows and other bedding items are on sale. Even bigger savings can be found in the clearance section with bedding sets discounted to as much as 65% off of original prices.
Storage sale offers from Lowe’s include 2 for $8 18-gallon plastic containers, 2 for $10 12-gallon lidded crates, and 2 for $20 27-gallon totes through January 7, 2013.
Select furniture, garage storage, and closet organization sets are 10% off at Home Depot. Plastic storage containers, such as 20-gallon totes and 66-quart clear latch totes, are on sale in stores only.
