Justin Bieber Dominates American Music Awards

Canadian born 16 year old Justin Bieber dominated the night at the American Music Awards Sunday night as he took home four trophies.

The teen idol won the award for favorite pop album, best new artist, favorite pop artist and beat out fan favorites like Eminem and Lady GaGa for artist of the year. The winners of the awards are decided by votes cast online by fans.

Eminem and country group Lady Antebellum were both tied in nominations as they both were up for five awards. Lady Antebellum ended up taking home best country group and Eminem garnered the awards for best rap/hip hop album and best male rap/hip hop artist. He was beat out by Bieber in the three other categories he was nominated in.

Even Usher, the artist who discovered Bieber 18 months ago and helped get him signed to a deal, lost an award to the teen heartthrob.

Justin was the biggest surprise to the awards show, but surprising people is nothing new to the young artist. He has been a surprise to the music industry as well with his debut album My World 2.0 selling nearly two million copies in the U.S.
