Kanye West Creates Twitter Controversy

Kanye West created controversy yet again over a tweet to Britney Spears that the rapper intended as a joke.

Last Tuesday Spears had a new song release that immediately hit number one on iTunes. The same day Kanye and Jay Z had a song release that hit number 2. Kanye West took to Twitter with his reaction.

The rapper that seems to always be at the center of a controversy went to his Twitter page to acknowledge the victory of Spears’ new song. Instead he created an uproar regarding his comment from all sides.

The joking tweet that West sent, “Yo Britney, I’m really happy for you and I’mma let you be #1, but me and Jay-Z single is one of the best songs of all time! LOL” was intended as a joke and a spoof of the now famous incident with Taylor Swift. Fans did not find it quite so funny.

While fans of West thought it was humorous, Spears’ fans got very upset over the comment. Twitter was flooded with responses filled with profanity over the rapper’s decision to attack another female pop star.

West later removed the tweet from his page and explained that he was, in fact, joking. He even referred to the fact he used LOL to indicate it was a joke.

Spears’ camp took the joke well and responded in kind to help ease the situation. “Thanks for ‘letting’ us be #1. Much appreciated”.
