The newest trailer for the next ‘Hunger Games’ movie, ‘Mockingjay,’ shows a traumatized Katniss Everdeen returning to her decimated home in District 12.
The haunting trailer opens with voiceovers of those in charge of Katniss (Jennifer Lawrence) in the mysterious District 13 as they express their doubts about her ability to lead the revolution against the Capitol.
“We need to make it personal for her,” Plutarch Heavensbee offers, voiced by the late Phillip Seymour Hoffman. “Let her see what the Capitol did to District 12.”
The trailer then cuts to a stark image of Katniss standing in the still-smoking ruins of her hometown.
Backed by the song “Yellow Flicker Beat” by Lorde, it’s a powerful, moving trailer that’s only building even more excitement among fans for the third installment of ‘The Hunger Games’ series.
Set in the aftermath of the 75th Annual Hunger Games’ Quarter Quell, Katniss has been whisked off to District 13, a region thought only to be a Panem urban legend. There, she’s groomed and trained to take on the role of the Mockinjay as she leads the Districts’ revolt against the tyrannical and opulent Capitol, ruled by President Snow (Donald Sutherland).
Reluctant at first, once Katniss she sees what the Capitol’s done to her home, she stops at nothing to take down Snow and his regime.
