A list of ebooks available in Amazon’s new Kindle Owners’ Lending Library is now available online through Amazon.com.
To use the new ebook library from Amazon, borrowers must both own a Kindle device (Kindle apps on other devices will not work for borrowing these ebooks) and be a member of Amazon Prime.
The link to view the ebooks available in the library was first publicized by Publishers Marketplace Automat, but requires some drilldown to get the the actual books available for borrowing by Kindle owning Prime members. The drill down link is here.
The Kindle Owners’ Lending Library currently has just over 5300 ebooks available for borrowing. They list ‘For Time and Eternity’ (Sister Wife) by Allison Pittman, ‘The Hunger Games’ by Suzanne Collins, and ‘Catching Fire’ (The Second Book of the Hunger Games) by Suzanne Collins as the three most popular ebooks in the library so far.
Amazon launched the Kindle Owners’ Lending Library November 2, and announced that over 100 current and former New York Times bestsellers were available for borrowing. They said that borrows could borrow one book at a time, with no due date, and could borrow another once the current one is returned.
The Kindle Owners’ Lending Library is the second library related release Amazon has announced recently. On September 21, Amazon announced that they were making Kindle ebooks available for borrowing at over 11,000 local libraries. Unlike the Kindle Owners’ Lending Library ebooks, the versions of Kindle ebook made available at local libraries can be downloaded on different devices and read using Kindle apps.
