Kmart Luring Customers With Double Coupons, Coffee

Kmart, which is owned by the Sears Holding Group, is offering to double the value of manufactures coupons, up to a dollar, through the end of March.

The coupon offer comes at a time that the store, along with its sister store, Sears, is struggling to bring in shoppers. At the end of last year Sears Holding Group it would be closing over 100 Kmart and Sears stores. Last month the company followed that up with an announcement that they would be selling off its Sears Hometown and Outlet stores and some of its hardware stores.

To take advantage of the double value coupons, Kmart shoppers are required to be members of the Shop Your Way Rewards program, which is free to join, and the total purchase must be $25 or more in grocery and drugstore merchandise. Not difficult, but still fairly steep requirements considering many stores offer special double coupon days without such restrictions. Kmart will have to do much more if they expect to bring back shoppers or attract the hard-core coupon crowd.

Kmart also announced that they will be offering Seattle’s Best Coffee Level System of packaged coffee products this month, plus Seattle’s Best Coffee line of Iced Lattes and Mochas in a can.
