Labor Day 2016 Smartphone Sales & Deals

Labor Day Smartphone sales for 2016 are now on.

Let’s take a look at what’s available.

Sprint is offering a “FREE LG Tribute 5 smartphones for the whole family” sale that started this weekend. The details of the deal are unclear on their site. They just say the phones are free for the whole family when you buy 2 or more.

How are they all free if you buy 2?

A Sprint rep cleared this up for me, “When you buy a plan with two or more lines, you get a free LG Tribute 5 for each line.” So if you get a family plan with 4 lines, you get 4 phones free. That’s not a bad deal for a family plan.

Sprint also has a “buy one Samsung Galaxy S7 or S7 edge, get one free” deal going on (with 2 year plans, of course).

AT&T is offering a $200 Visa Rewards Card with the purchase of an LG G5 or V10 smartphone with plan. They also have 50% off GoPhones with the purchase of a $45/month+ plan.

Over at T-Mobile, they are offering upgrades from an iPhone 6 to an iPhone 6s for $100 and Free Samsung On5s with the purchase of a plan.

Cricket Wireless is wrapping up their back-to-school sale. The sale features a free LG Spree phone with new activations. They also have Kyocera Hydro VIEWs ($29.99), ZTE Sonata 3 ($9.99), ZTE Grand Max 2 ($129.99), LG Stylo 2 ($79.99), and Nokia Lumia 650 ($69.99, or $49 online) on sale for customers transferring their number to Cricket.

Walmart has several smartphones with pre-paid plans on sale. Their Straight Talk Samsung Galaxy S4 4G LTE Prepaid phone is $149. The Straight Talk Samsung Galaxy S5 4G LTE Prepaid smartphone is $299, and the refurbished Straight Talk Samsung Galaxy S4 4G Prepaid Smartphone, which includes a bonus 30 day plan, is $219. They also have a T-Mobile Samsung Galaxy S4 Prepaid Smartphone on sale for $179.

Freedompop, which offers free to low cost cell phone plans that we have covered here at CP in the past, is having a ‘double your data free’ with the purchase of these Freedompop refurbished phones: HTC Desire LTE ($29.99), Kyocera Vibe LTE ($49.99), Moto E, 2nd Gen LTE ($39.99), Samsung Galaxy S7 ($449.99). The ‘double data’ is for the first 6 months, with 4GB of data instead of 2GB for $19.99 a month.
