As a part of the launch of Lady Gaga’s new album ‘Born this Way’, Amazon was offering the digital version on Monday for only 99 cents. However, it appears that demand for the album far exceeded the abilities of Amazon’s servers to keep up.
According to Amazon spokesperson Sally Fouts, the site experienced an unusually high volume of traffic that caused delays for those attempting to download the album. Fouts stressed that anyone who had ordered the album during the promotion would still get it for 99 cents. This statement was also relayed on the album’s product page on the Amazon site.
Those who opted to used the server based storage on Amazon did not have the same problems. Within minutes their album was located on Amazon’s Cloud Drive and was able to be streamed live. Using this method gave purchasers a promotional twenty gigabytes of cloud storage with the album’s purchase as well.
