Latest Wii U Update Allows System To System Transfer

Nintendo has released a new system update for its Wii U console that allows data to be transferred between Wii U systems. This data includes: Nintendo Network IDs, user names, downloaded data, games, and saves files.

To transfer data from one Wii U to another both systems must be completely up to date with version 5.1.0 U firmware. Nintendo has posted detailed instructions to their website explaining exactly how to perform the transfer.

It is important to note that all data on the target Wii U will be discarded after all data has been transferred from the source console aside from a few settings. After the transfer takes place the source Wii U will then be formatted.

Several other new features were made available as well. Wii U users now have the option to navigate Nintendo’s eShop with a Wii U Pro Controller, Wii Remote, or Classic Controller. Previously, using the Wii U Gamepad was the only way to browse the Nintendo eShop.

The Wii U console can now download updates while the console is in standby mode. Other less noticeable updates were made to the consoles stability as well.

The ability to transfer data between consoles will now allow Nintendo consumers to purchase a deluxe or special edition console and have all of their previous content available on it.
