A photo of an internal leak for drug company Walgreens shows Apple Pay’s big reveal is set for October 18.
Julie Clover of MacRumors.com revealed a photo of what appears to be an internal memo circulated to Walgreens employees.
The memo is directed to store managers and encourages them cover the tasks required for the activation of Apple Pay – a payment service that uses near-field communication (NFC) chips in the latest iPhone 6 models as well as the Apple Watch to make wireless payments .
The memo also directs them to prepare their team members for customer questions and concerns.
The first sentence of the memo, however, is the most telling:
“In preparation for the launch of Apple Pay on October 18…”
Assuming the leak is authentic, then we have an exact date for the launch of Apple Pay – which is two days after Apple’s product launch on October 16.
The launch is expected to reveal new iPads, new Macs and the OS X Yosimete operating system.
