HBO creator and Girls‘ star Lena Dunham is set to host Saturday Night Live for the first time on March 8, NBC announced on Tuesday.
Although Dunham has not ever hosted the show, her hit show Girls was parodied on SNL’s season opener by guest host Tina Fey.
Girls is currently in the middle of its third season and has already been confirmed for a fourth season.
Alongside Dunham will be The National, who will make their debut as musical guests. Their most recent album, Trouble Will Find Me, received a 2014 Grammy nomination for Best Alternative Album and their documentary Mistaken For Strangers will hit theaters in late March.
Dunham fans can tune in this Thursday on Late Night with Seth Meyers, which premiered just last night!
With the announcement of Dunham’s debut hosting duties, Dunham tweeted her excitement, “Thank you for the SNL love. Dream come true. Can’t wait to debut my character ‘girl who googled serial killers all night & has lots to say’!”
While SNL returns March 1 with host Jim Parsons and musical guest Beck, we are counting the days till Dunham’s SNL debut!
