More retailers have opted to open their doors on Thanksgiving this year with 8 pm being the most popular opening time.
Because of state laws, stores in Maine, Massachusetts, Rhode Island, and Puerto Rico will be closed for Thanksgiving Day.
Shoppers can scoop up Thanksgiving deals on electronics, toys, clothing, office supplies, beauty essentials, and sporting goods since everything from department stores to drug stores will be open.
Below is a list of stores, grouped by category, open on Thanksgiving Day for 2013:
Grocery Stores Open Thanksgiving Day:
BiLo – open regular time until 4 p.m.; pharmacies closed
EarthFare – didn’t respond, but sign at local store shows open with limited hours
Winn-Dixie – open at regular time until 4 p.m.; pharmacies closed
Beauty/Makeup Stores Open Thanksgiving Day:
Bath & Body Works – 7 p.m.
Ulta – opens 8 p.m.
Clothing/Department Stores Open Thanksgiving Day:
Belk – 8 p.m.
Express – most stores open 8 p.m.
JC Penney – opens 8 p.m.
Kohl’s – opens 8 p.m.
Macy’s – opens 8 p.m.
Old Navy – most locations open 9 a.m. – 4 p.m., select others opening at 7 p.m.
Sears – opens 8 p.m.
Tanger Outlets – didn’t respond, but most locations appear to be opening at 10 p.m.
Victoria’s Secret – most stores open 8 p.m.
Craft Stores Open Thanksgiving Day:
Michael’s – 4 p.m. – 2 a.m.
Discount Stores Open Thanksgiving Day:
Big Lots – open 7 a.m. – 11 p.m.
Kmart – opens 6 a.m. (stores in Maine, Massachusetts, and Rhode Island will open at 12:30 a.m. Black Friday, stores in Puerto Rico will open at midnight Black Friday)
Target – opens 8 p.m.
Walmart – most locations open all day
Drug Stores Open Thanksgiving Day:
CVS – open with most locations operating under regular hours; pharmacy hours vary
Walgreens – most locations open 8 a.m. – 10 p.m., many 24 hour locations open around the clock, pharmacies at most 24 hour locations open
Electronics Stores Open Thanksgiving Day:
B&H Photo Video: 10 a.m. – 6 p.m.
Best Buy – most locations, open 6 p.m.

H.H. Gregg – 8 p.m.
Office Supply Stores Open Thanksgiving Day:
Office Depot – most locations open 8 p.m. – 11 p.m.
Office Max – most locations open 8 p.m.
Staples – most locations open 8 p.m.
Sporting Goods Stores Open Thanksgiving Day:
Dick’s Sporting Goods – most locations open 8 p.m.
Toy Stores Open Thanksgiving Day:
Toys ‘R’ Us – most locations, open 5 p.m.
