Macy’s Thanksgiving Parade 2010 To Feature Old and New

Macy’s Thanksgiving Parade 2010 is as much a part of the holiday tradition as pumpkin pie and turkey, with people tuning in each year to see old favorites and new.

The parade will kick off the holiday season first thing Thursday morning. It is known around the country for the many musical acts, performances by Broadway musicals, marching bands, elaborate and exciting floats and of course the giant decorative balloons that have come to symbolize the parade.

This year will be no exception as top performers will be a part of the holiday parade and new characters are introduced in the balloon line-up.

Performers for the parade will include such acts as Kanye West, Jessica Simpson, India Arie, Big Time Rush and many more. There will also be numerous Broadway performances as well.

The newest floats to be added to the line-up include Dora’s Christmas Carol and Elves Raise the Roof.

There will be many of the longstanding favorites among the balloons. Viewers will see Kermit the Frog, Snoopy, Scooby-Doo and even a Smurf.  There will also be a debut of some new characters. Kung Fu Panda and the Diary of a Wimpy Kid characters will be making their entrance into the parade.

In all there will 8,000 performers this year for the parade. 1,600 of those will be cheerleaders while 800 of them are clowns. 2,000 volunteers will help guide balloons and floats down the streets.
