If you’re looking for a big sale on smartphones this Memorial Day weekend, I’ve got some news for you.

You’re pretty much out of luck.

We contacted all the major carriers in the days leading up to Memorial Day weekend and discovered that none of them (that responded) have any Memorial Day smartphone specials going on.

Here at Consumer Press, we find that result rather bizarre. It’s not a total surprise though. AT&T, Sprint, T-Mobile, Verizon… none of them had any sales on Memorial Day weekend last year either.

The only major online distributor that had a named Memorial Day sale last year was WireFly, and they went out of business a few months ago.

That’s not the say there’s absolutely no sales going on. Just not a big Memorial Day push like one would expect.

Over on VerizonWireless.com, they have the Apple iPhone 4S, Nokia Lumia 928, Samsung Galaxy S3 mini, BlackBerry Z10, and Hydro ELITE by KYOCERA all free on a 2-year contract,

At ATTWireless.com they have a refurbished Apple iPhone 5s  or new Samsung Galaxy S 4 on sale for $99,  and the Samsung Galaxy S4 Active, Apple iPhone 4s, Moto X, and a refurbished Samsung Galaxy S4 zoom, free (on contract).

Sprint.com has the Galaxy S4 for $49.99 and the LG G2 for free, after rebates, (on contract).

T-Mobile.com doesn’t have any particular specials they’re promoting.

What’s your theory on the lack of any big Memorial Day smartphone blowout sales?
