MLB Baseball 2011: Cubs Vs. Mets | Preview & TV Schedule

Tonight on Sunday, Sept. 11, the Chicago Cubs will take on the New York Mets on the Met’s home-turf, Citi Field.

This baseball game might end up being another nail biter, seeing as the Cubs (63-82) beat the Mets (71-74) yesterday, Sept. 10.

Yesterday, the Mets played against the Cubs and lost 4-5. The Mets scored 4 runs in the eighth, bringing the score to 4-3 (NYM), but the Cubs held on and scored 2 runs in the ninth for a 5-4 win against the Mets.

Probable starters for tonight’s game will be Matt Garza of the Cubs, and Miguel Batista of the Mets.

In Monday’s game, Garza provided three runs and six hits in 7 2-3 innings with a 2.23 ERA over his last seven starts.

Batista gave five hits, one run, and four walks in six innings of Tuesday’s 7-4 game. Batista has a 2.63 ERA over six starts against the cubs.

CBS Sports states, “Alfonso Soriano, Marlon Byrd and Ramirez surely can’t be happy about having to face Batista. Soriano is 2 for 24 (.083) lifetime against Batista while Byrd and Ramirez are 2 for 16 (.125) and 2 for 14 (.143), respectively. Reed Johnson has also struggled, going 0 for 7.”

The game will be aired live on ESPN at 8:00 p.m. ET, as well as on MLB.com.
