The 2K Sports video game company announced Thursday (July 20) that NBA Hall of Famers Michael Jordan, Magic Johnson, and Larry Bird will be featured on three different covers of “NBA 2K12,” their latest installment of the number one selling, best-rated of all time basketball video game franchise.
In 2010, Jordan was on the cover for last year’s 2K NBA game, which sold more than 5 million copies.
Jason Argent, vice president of marketing for 2K Sports, says the three covers for the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 versions will be shipped in equal numbers to each retail location in the U.S. All other platform versions and non-U.S. locations will only get the Jordan cover.
In the game, Jordan will wear his Chicago Bulls away jersey, as well as Bird of the Boston Celtics. Johnson will sport his home Los Angeles Lakers uniform on their separate cover.
“NBA 2K12” is likely to go on sale October 4, of this year.
