Wednesday night kicked off the second night of live playoffs on NBC’s The Voice.
Just to refresh everyone’s memory, Monday night had Team Blake and Team Adam performances and I don’t know about all of you, but I still cannot get over Amanda Brown’s beyond amazing performance of Aerosmith’s “Dream On.” Her mind-blowing vocals make her unforgettable and a definite top contender.
Nonetheless, this time Team Cee-lo and Team Christina were up to perform. Every performance tonight was a joy to watch, but one of the performances that captured a lot of attention was Team Christina’s Adriana Louise.
Adriana Louise gave a glowing performance of Katy Perry’s “Firework.” She really did a good job at showing her powerful vocal range. The only thing I wished she would have done was to attempt to make the song more of her own by adding her own spin to it.
Nevertheless, Cee-lo complimented Louise for her beautiful voice (and look), specifically admitting that Team Cee-lo sees her as a strong contender in this competition. Both Adam and Christina praised her for doing an incredible job on a song that changes from low to mid-range to super high vocal registers.
Blake agreed, stating that Louise is always a big deal every time she performs.
The most memorable performance of the night goes to Sylvia Yacoub, who brilliantly performed Katy Perry’s “The One That Got Away.”
This girl not only showcased her extraordinary vocals, but also shined light on her musicianship as she beautifully played the piano throughout the song.
The best aspect about Yacoub’s performance was not only in the fact that she hit every note to complete and utter perfection, but that you could tell she really connected to the song. She sang each word with deep emotion as tears began to well up.
Her performance, was simply put, incredibly moving.
Cee-lo praised Yacoub, naming her the princess of the show, and declaring that she was his favorite performance of the night. He also praised her ability to successfully multi-task between playing the piano and singing.
Adam explained his appreciation for the intimacy Yacoub brought to the performance and announced how there was no doubt in his mind that she would make it to the next round of the competition.
Christina (Yacoub’s coach) emphasized on how she feels a deep connection to Yacoub stating: “ I get you, you get me. We come from the same place emotionally and vocally.” She further commended Yacoub for the whole vision she had come up with for this incredible performance.
