A hit Seth Rogen comedy and every single one of the Halloween movies are among the top Blu-Ray releases for the week of September 22.
Neighbors – Seth Rogen and Rose Byrne play a married couple with a new baby. When a college fraternity moves in next door, they find themselves locked in combat with the Greek brothers. Zac Efron plays the leader of the frat, who becomes Rogen’s arch-nemesis.
One of the biggest hits of the summer, Neighbors is hilariously raunchy from start to finish. Rogen and Byrne have surprisingly great chemistry together, and Efron is a revelation as the obnoxious frat boy. Best of all, the movie is relatable, as it deals with fears of growing up and accepting maturity, as well as being an adult and missing one’s more carefree days.
Bonus features are a selection of deleted/extended scenes (including an alternate opening), a gag reel, a line-o-rama, and four behind-the-scenes segments. Target’s edition will offer a bonus disc with more making-of material, while Walmart’s comes with a t-shirt.
Halloween: The Complete Collection – Scream Factory, a company that curates horror fare primarily from the ’70s and ’80s, has put together a box set containing all ten of the Halloween films. You’ll find John Carpenter’s original, Halloween II, Halloween III: Season of the Witch, Halloween 4: The Return of Michael Myers, Halloween 5: The Revenge of Michael Myers, Halloween: The Curse of Michael Myers (producer’s cut), Halloween H2O, Halloween: Resurrection, the Rob Zombie Halloween remake, and its sequel.
The films and all the bonus content are spread out over fifteen discs. Supplementary features are beyond copious. You’ll get audio commentaries, deleted scenes, alternate cuts (when available), making-of featurettes, retrospectives, and much more. This is easily one of the most thorough and impressive Blu-Ray releases of the year.
Saw: The Complete Movie Collection – On a similar note, the Saw series comes to Blu-Ray in a new box set. The unrated versions of all seven installments are inside.
Bonus features are not as extensive as in the Halloween set, but you will find commentaries, deleted scenes, behind-the-scenes featurettes, and more.
Also hitting Blu-Ray this week are the 25th anniversary edition of the classic anime feature Ghost in the Shell, Criterion’s editions of The Innocents and Roman Polanski’s Macbeth, and season three of the hit comedy series Key & Peele.
