New Educational Kids Shows On The Way From Amazon

Amazon has approved the production of test pilots for five new childrens shows.

You read that right – Amazon is producing their own streaming childrens content.

Last month Amazon announced that they had test pilots being produced for six comedies series. Adding these five childrens shows brings the number of test pilots under development to eleven. Ambitious for an unproven studio!

It looks like these (potential) new kids shows will all have an educational component.

One, called Creative Galaxy, is created by Angela Santomero, who is the creator of Super Why and Blue’s Clues. According to Amazon, it is ” designed to inspire kids’ creative thinking through crafts, story, music and dance.”

Another is Oz Adventures, in which a character named Dot travels the yellow brick road to solve problems.

Teeny Tiny Dogs is created by Howard Baker, the creator of Rugrats, and will be produced by The Jim Henson Company.  Henson, the creator of The Muppets, is no longer with us, but the company he founded has also produced Sid the Science Kid, Dinosaur Train, among others. Amazon says this show will ” promotes happiness through friendship, learning, growing and developing a strong sense of self as seen through the eyes of canine friends.”

Tumbleaf will be designed for pre-schoolers and is about a small blue fox named Fig. The show will follow his adventures and promote “play through exploration and cognitive reasoning.”

The fifth one is unnamed at this point. Its creator is J.J. Johnson, who also created Dino Dan and This is Emily Yeung. It’s about a young female scientist who “creates three robot helpers to assist her scientific experiments in the back of her dad’s junkyard.”

Interestingly enough, the pilots of these series will be available for free online. They will be posted on Amazon Instant Video, Prime Instant Video, Lovefilm UK and Lovefilm Germany. Amazon says they will rely on viewer feedback to decide which shows should be produced. We’ll keep you updated here at CP when the pilots are available.

My daughter and I are interested in seeing the science one from J.J. Johnson

How about you.. which are you most interested in seeing with your child?
