Warner Brothers Pictures, in association with Legacy Pictures, has released an extended trailer of Godzilla showing a new kaiju.
The word kaiju means strange monster. Godzilla is a kaiju, but in the movie kaiju refers to a monster other than Godzilla. In the first trailer fans got a glimpse of the kaiju’s foot.
This trailer shows a clip of the kaiju attacking what appears to be a ship, giving fans their first look at its odd head. The clip flashes in a split-second, so pay attention or you’ll miss it.
There are scenes of the devastation the kaiju has unleashed and a terrifying shot of Godzilla‘s mouth as he roars.
The trailer also delves into character Joe Brody’s (Bryan Cranston) tragic story of how he tried and failed to save his wife (Juliette Binoche).
The rest of the cast includes: Aaron Taylor-Johnson, Ken Watanabe, Elizabeth Olsen, Sally Hawkins and David Strathairn.
The film is directed by Gareth Edwards and is being hailed as a masterful retelling of Toho’s iconic Godzilla.
Godzilla is set to open in 3D, 2D and IMAX theaters May 16.
