A new 15 inch Apple MacBook Pro is on the way. It will be thinner, faster, and include Apple’s Retina Display high-definition screen resolution. These details, according to Mark Gurman, the Senior Editor of 9to5Mack.com, come from ‘trusted sources’ in Apple’s supply chain. Gurman has broken Apple stories before, we have no reason to doubt him on this one.
Gurman writes that sources in Apple’s supply chain have indicated that the new Apple notebook is undergoing test production rounds and will launch during the summer. “It features an ultra-thin design, a ‘jaw-dropping’ Retina Display, and super-fast USB 3,” wrote Gurman.
Gurman also says that the new new 15-inch MacBook Pro will forego the CD/DVD drive in its goal to be super thin. It will keep the unibody aluminum case.
The big new feature will be the screen. Gurman quotes his sources as saying it’s “jaw-dropping” and “definitely the most important Mac innovation in years.” The resolution is said to be as sharp and colorful as that on Apple’s new iPad – but bigger. The iPad has a 9.7 inch screen, the new MacBook Pro’s screen will be 15.4 inches.
Gruman didn’t have any details from his sources on exactly when the new MacBook Pro might be launched. What a thing to leave out, eh? However, there are rumors circulating online that the notebook might be revealed at the World Wide Developer’s Conference (WWDC), which begins June 11.
