NowU.com announced late yesterday that they are shutting down their site and membership program, effective immediately.
“Today, NowU is closing its doors,” NowU posted on their site and social networks. “It’s been a privilege to deliver news, advice and savings that were focused on one guiding principle: No matter where you are in life, there’s always another amazing possibility around the corner. Our journey together may be coming to an end, but we wish you all the best as you discover “What’s Next.”
NowU, a division of Gannett Satellite Information Network, Inc., published consumer, lifestyle, and self-help articles on their site and offered a paid membership program with nationwide perks, discounts and coupons to consumers nationwide.
The NowU membership program cost $1.99/month or $20 per year. Members received discounts to thousands of movie theaters, stores, restaurants and travel products.
According to an email that NowU sent out yesterday afternoon, members will be receiving full refunds. The refunds will be issued automatically through the payment option the member used.
To members, the announcement came out of the blue. There were no signs that the program was faltering. NowU has not provided a reason for the closing. We have contacted NowU to ask more about this and we’ll update this story with any additional information as it comes in.
