Online Schools – Top 20 Online Colleges Revealed

The top 20 online schools for 2010, as ranked by The Guide to Online Schools, has been released.

The Guide to Online Schools, a website from the SR Education Group, ranked top colleges based on accreditation, cost of tuition and books, profit versus non-profit status, graduation and retention rates, student feedback, and student-loan repayment rates. This is the second year that the Guide has ranked the top online schools.

The top five online schools, in order of the rankings are: California University of Pennsylvania Online, Iowa Central College, Abilene Christian University, Norwich University, and Northcentral University.

Two schools in the top 20 reported 100% retention rates, Northcentral University and Jones International University.

The schools with the lowest tuition rates were Iowa Central College, at $5580, and Western Governors University, at $5570.

According to The Guide to Online Schools, the purpose of the rankings is to build a “standardized and trustworthy method” of ranking online schools based on reliable statistics. It is designed to give potential students a way to judge the schools and make a more educated decision as to which online school to attend.
