Global eCommerce games retailer Green Man Gaming has released pre-load keys for buyers who pre-purchased Civilization: Beyond Earth – except that the keys activated Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel instead.
Civilization: Beyond Earth is an upcoming science-fiction themed turn-based empire-building game and was made available for pre-download on Steam on October 20, 2014.
Green Man Gaming (GMG) is one of the retailers partnering up with publisher 2K Games and developer Firaxis to release keys.
The problem, however, is that the latest batch of keys leads users to unlock the first-person shooter game Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel.
Those that have received the wrong keys and filed a support ticket for the matter can expect to receive the following email message from GMG’s support desk:
“Hi
Thank you very much for your ticket.
I sincerely apologise for this mistake on our part. Please find your key for Sid Meier’s Civilization®: Beyond Earth, below:
*****-*****-*****
The ‘Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel’ key you have received in error will be deactivated.
We are sorry for any inconvenience that this has caused.”
Affected users are thus advised to file a support ticket explaining their current situation.
