“Orange Is The New Black” Set For A July 11th Release On Netflix

Netflix has announced the release date of its original comedy/drama series “Orange is the New Black,” July 11, 2013.

Netflix, as the streaming service has done in the case of every original series released so far, will make all 13 episodes available at the same time.

The new series is created by Jenji Kohan, and it’s based on Piper Kerman’s memoir, “Orange Is The New Black: My Year In a Women’s Prison,” which is available on Amazon now.

Netflix has released a number of original series recently. In February it was “House Of Cards.” April saw “Hemlock Grove.” During May Netflix will release Arrested Development, and will follow that up with “Orange Is The New Black” in July.

Orange is the New Black is produced by Lionsgate TV and stars Taylor Shilling as the engaged Brooklynite Piper Chapman. Piper’s life turns upside down when she is sentenced to prison for 15 months when her past catches up with her.

Piper has to trade her NYC life to Jason Biggs, who acts as finance Larry, for a prison orange jumpsuit and a culture where she has to face questions and unexpectedly forms new alliances as well.

The series also features Jason Biggs, Pablo Schreiber, Laverne Cox, Danielle Brooks, Kate Mulgrew and Taryn Manning.
