Panasonic HX-A500 4K Wearable Video CameraPanasonic has unveiled what it’s claiming is “the world’s first” 4K/30p wearable video camera with its HX-A500 (A500) model.

The camera and main unit are separate, allowing the lens to be mounted in a variety of spots and for users to shoot video hands-free.

Features include a 1.5-inch color LCD on the main unit, Wi-Fi and NFC for smartphone control and uploading to the internet, and a 1/2.3-inch BSI sensor.

Besides 30 frames per second of 4K shooting, video features include low noise, a 160 degree ultra wide angle view, tilt correction, image stabilization, and slow motion video available in three resolutions.

The A500 camcorder’s lens unit weighs slightly more than an ounce and is light enough to be mounted, according to Panasonic.

Available accessories include a head mount, armband case, clip mount, multi belt, and multi case.

Designed to capture high-quality, low-noise video, the HX-A500 is waterproof to a depth of almost 10 feet for 30 minutes and is also dustproof.

Real-time broadcasting is available using USTREAM while an Image App allows for one-clip editing of highlighted scenes.

Panasonic’s A500 camcorder will be available in the U.S. in early July at and photo specialty retailers.
