Philadelphia Marathon To Draw Thousands Sunday

The Philadelphia Marathon is set to be held on November 21 and the city is preparing for the enormous crowds of people the event is expected to bring in.

The marathon is expected to bring in 23,000 runners Sunday, many of which are traveling in from out of town. Organizers are expecting the event to draw around 50,000 spectators who will cheer the runners on.

Those in charge of the event were anticipating the numbers and blocked 27 hotels for the runners to stay in. As of now, 26 of the hotels are full to capacity and one still has rooms available.

Participants will run 26.2 miles in the marathon which will begin at 6:55 am for wheelchair and handcycle events and 7:00 am for the remainder of the runners.

Winners will each receive a prize of $3,500.
