Dawn of The Planet of the Apes is one of the biggest films of the summer, both commercially and critically.
So it should come as no surprise that a sequel is the planning stages.
20Th Century Fox announced the planned sequel and gave it the place holder title of “Planet of the Apes”.
The two most influential figures behind the current film’s success, director Matt Reeves and writer Mark Bomback, were announced to be remaining in those roles by Fox.
Andy Serkis, the actor behind the motion capture of Caesar and who is receiving a lot of Oscar buzz, will be returning for several sequels, according to Deadline.
Dawn of the Planet of the Apes holds a highly coveted Rotten Tomatoes score of 92% and is closing in on $150 million in box office receipts only one week after its release. Without any strong competition for the top of the heap this upcoming weekend, the film’s reign at the top is likely to continue.
